How to grow bread mold...

Take a cotton swab and collect some dust. Wipe the dust over the bread slices you want to experiment with. Place them in a bag with a few drops of water and seal the bag so the slices don't dry out.

Any of you people know if the greenish/gray mold that grows on bread is toxic? I was eating a 4.5" loaf of wheat bread while watching TV, and didn't notice it had mold, it tasted sort of minty but I was so distracted that almost eat the whole loaf before the taste got stronger and I realized it was moldy and spat it out. There were a few patches of the mold but the whole bread tasted funny... as soon as I noticed it I spat it out and went to the bathroom and poked a couple of fingers down my throat and vomited some of it out but could not vomit most of it.

So I'm wondering if I should worry about getting sick or anything. I watched TV once when they were showing the case of a man that suffered the infection of what they said was bread fungus, the man had been so sick and his face was so infected that they said he was going to die and the alternative was to remove his face and root out the fungus infection, so his eyes and nose were removed surgically... and all because of a fungus or mold infection which they said was from bread fungi or some tipe. So have any of you read something about such cases if any?.. I don't think I should be affraid of something like that happening to me, but I was wondering if any of you have heard or read something of the kind. Thanks.

Why does mould happen?

They grow when they have a

long time to live with oxygen and water.

Most times this will not happen if it’s a normal, freash daily lunch

If however your sandwhich is left in the refrigerator for a long, long time, the oxygen and water in the refrigerator will help it grow enough until you see it. This type of growth is called mycelia

Why does light affect mould?

Fungus does not need light to grow since it does not photosynthesise. Light may have a deleterious effect on fungus growth if the light accompanies a rise in temperature, or a decrease in humidity. But how much would depend on the species of fungus and what it "likes".

Bread mold is a kind of fungus that is commonly found on bread surfaces. It takes food and nutrients from the bread and causes damage to the surface where it lives. It causes a bad taste to the bread also. But the mold has a place in the industry where it serves as a decomposer that can decompose decayed plants and animals.

Molds include all species of microscopic fungi that grow in the form of multicellular filaments, called hyphae. There are thousands of known species of molds, which include opportunistic pathogens, saprotrophs, aquatic species and thermophiles. Molds reproduce through small spores, which may contain a single nucleus or be multinucleate. Mold spores can be asexual or sexual. Some can remain airbourne indefinitely, and many are able to survive extremes of temperature and pressure. Mold spores can be allergenic, causing irritations of eye, nose, throat, and lungs. Some molds generate toxic liquid or gaseous compounds, called mycotoxins. Molds that produce mycotoxins are sometimes referred to as toxic molds.
