The concept of betting on
predictions is not new. RichardFeynman and other physicists participating
in the Manhattan
project used to bet on theoretical outcomes. This mechanism not only helps to
provide incentives for those who may want to pursue particular goals, but it
also helps to provide some degree of accountability in terms of “putting your
money where your mouth is.” With a transparent futures market however, a degree
of transparency can be provided that can let onlookers get a sense of how the
future is likely to turn out. In fact, it has been said that non-securitized
